The way to be successfully recruited is showing what you can do that others can’t. In this post we will go over ways you can add your unique way to your recruiting process. Recently, at Sports Reelz we had a recruit on our college recruitment player platform that had only been playing their sport full time for about 2-3 years. Unique college recruitment
No matter what profiles you create you must have a way to build relationships with coaches. How do you do this? Well, you must contact them! Of course you can not send an email to every coach out there but you can send great emails to the coaches you really want to get to know you. Emailing is a good form of showing how you are unique (although a phone call would make you the most unique). How can you do this in your email? To start, share your general credentials that you always hear about; name, highlight video, etc.. But afterwards tell a story on how you have gotten to where you are and what you have learned along the way. Share your experience and what you hope to get out of the experience at your new team opportunity.
College Recruitment Videos
Make your highlight video unique. Yes, coaches have seen hundreds of videos just like they have read hundreds of emails but how do you go the extra mile? Show your abilities that make you, you. Don’t just show you scoring. If you are great on defense show those highlights as well. If you make a bad play but then work your tail off to make it back and score because you have incredible work rate then show that! Attend ID Camps
Athletes always ask should I go to this ID camp… is there a school that is going to be there that you are interested in? Then yes go to that ID Camp! If that school fits your unique needs then you should do it. Don’t worry if others you know aren’t going.
Play in leagues
Find the league that best fits your needs. Is it a bigger league that has big clubs like ECNL? Or is it a smaller league with competitive teams for example, Carolina Champions League? Most importantly, make sure that the level of play and the coach fit your needs.
Be you-nique, but...
Be unique aka be yourself but at the same time be your best self when doing these things. You are looking for a college or program that fits your unique recruitment needs but you are also competing to win a spot in the program.
